Quick and Short tips on writing short stories

  • Stories driven by dialogue are better for readers it seems

  • Begin at the end- it puts your reader at the best part of the story
  • Write it to  read easy, so your reader can go through it fast and stay engaged
  • Keep the number of characters to a minimum. There is no room in a short story for more
  • If you do a backstory on characters do it short and then get out of it. Spread it out within the dialogue if possible
  • This tip is a common one among seasoned writers: practice. When I read something I wrote years ago, I see amazing and encouraging differences when I compare it to my current work
  • Remember if you want just forget all the freaking tips and tell your story
